"I have been involved in satellite system coordination since 1985. I like this software." -- A senior satellite expert said.

SATCOORD toolkit is designed for space network administrations and operators to perform successful intersystem coordination. It contains almost every thing required for such practice. The main functionalities are described as follows.

1. Obtain Filing Priority Date Information
The ITU Filing receive date, protection date and date of bringing into use of each beam and frequency bands can be searched in any orbital arc. The date information can be compared between two administrations, or between two space networks, or between a network and an administration. The results are listed in a Word document or a spreadsheet at user's choice.

2. Draw Transponder Frequency Plan
The frequency plan of all beams of space networks can be displayed and zoomed. Frequency data can be prepared in a text file or spreadsheet, or retrieved from SRS Database. The transponder frequency plans are accurately aligned. Frequency plans of different networks can also be compared in one chart.

3. Display Satellite Antenna Beam Contour Overlap
The antenna beam contours of two satellites are displayed in one chart for comparison purpose. The satellite antenna gain to an earth station is calculated for given earth station location. The earth station antenna gain to it's own satellite and adjacent satellite is calculated in case of antenna pointing error. Thus, the accurate antenna discrimination of both space and ground segments are obtained. This assessment is needed when two satellites are very close and services must be protected at required availability.

4. Perform C/I Margin Analysis and Trade-off
Preparation of input carrier list
The input carrier list can be prepared in three ways:
(a) Select carrier and earth station and calculate maximum and minimum power levels with the built-in link budget algorithm. The maximum up link power is limited by ITU-R Rec. S.524.
(b) Retrieve data from ITU filing. If data is incomplete (for some early filings in particular), the missing parameters are added under user's control.
(c) Import data from other source in form of spreadsheet.
Define Carrier-to-Interference Criteria
Based on ITU-R Rec. S.523 and S.617 the C/I criteria are defined for different type of interfering and protected carriers. The default settings are updated according to the latest ITU-R Recs. The user may modify criteria in case of need.
Calculation of Carrier-to-Interference Margin
The method of C/I calculation is closely related to the definition of C/I criteria. C/I ratios and margins are calculated for all combinations of protected and interfering carriers with the consideration of orbital separation between two satellites and satellite antenna contour advantages. The C/I margins are presented in both tabular form (MS Word and/or spreadsheet) and graphics, which provide an immediate and complete visual review of the interference impact.
C/I Margin Analysis and Statistics
Up to one million of interference scenarios can be calculated for one coordination. User can find which carrier of the protected network is most robust and which carrier of the interfering network is most harming based on statistics of C/I margin. All carriers are listed with their successful and failed results for both protected and interfering networks.
System Parameters Trade-off
The system parameters can be rendered to meet C/I requirements. The results can be immediately viewed when trade-off is made. This function enables users complete C/I calculation effectively.
